GIANNI MATTEO

Gianni Matteo is Las Vegas native, where he studied performing arts in magnet schools from 1st to 12th Grade. A Las Vegas Academy graduate, Gianni went on to pursue his Bachelor's degree in vocal performance and music education. In 2012, he traveled to Osaka, Japan to perform in R&B Jukebox with Universal Studios Japan. While performing overseas, he also music directed Jason Robert Brown's 'Songs for A New World' and Stephen Sondheim's 'Into The Woods'. Upon his return to The States, Gianni has performed in several shows ranging from music theatre to opera. Some notable roles include Edwin from Gilbert and Sullivan's "Trial by Jury" and Randall in "Bring It On The Musical."

WELCOME ANDREW PHILLIPS, A NEW CONTEMPORARY AND JAZZ TEACHER AT THE CONSERVATORY!!!

Andrew Phillips has been dancing since five years of age training in all styles of dance from Ballet to Jazz Funk at The Dance Refinery in Indianapolis. Then he continued his study with kinesiology and contemporary dance at Indiana University. His choreography credit includes, regional musical theatre productions, such as “Oklahoma!”, show choirs, and several dance studios around the U.S. He has received choreography awards from the American College Dance Festival and regional dance competitions. Andrew has performed on many cruise ships sailing the world for three years, was a featured audition for season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance, performed many musical roles, music videos, parades, and movies. His career has led him to choreograph, teach master classes with conventions, and even judge for a few dance competitions.

NEW TO THE CONSERVATORY... MISS KIRSTEN NORMAN (BALLET INSTRUCTOR)!!!

Kirsten was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada where she took her first ballet class at three years old. Kirsten has performed for 11 years with her husband as a featured adagio team on Norwegian, NYK and Saga cruise ships as well as ballet companies in Canada, the US, and the UK. While between contracts, she performed for Kevin Black Productions in Florida, enhancing her aerial skills until she later became a stay at home mother. She is extremely excited to bring her knowledge, passion and experience of ballet to the next generation of students.

Odalys Valdes Puentes is a native of Havana, Cuba and a graduate of the ENA (National Art School). She has held lead roles in theater, magazines, musicals and television, including the show "Tropicana Cuba," which enabled her to travel to different Latin American countries. Odalys has worked in Mexico as a teacher, choreographer and artistic director in her own academy with neoclassic, contemporary and acrobatic technique. She is also well versed in electronic, pop, hip hop, flamenco, Brazilian and tropical genres (salsa, rumba, conga, bachata, merengue, mambo, cha cha cha), successfully presenting shows for 20 years.

Regina Laughlin has spent her last few years as a Dance Supervisor with Princess Cruises and performing in shows such as Anything Goes, Sweet Charity and Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby. Other notable credits include: Legends in Concert, Dino’s Christmas Spectacular, Celebrate America, The Promise, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises and Disneyland Resort. Ms. Laughlin received her BFA in Dance from Webster University, during which she was also involved with the Miss America Scholarship Program for over 7 years. In her free time, Regina enjoys traveling the country as a dance competition adjudicator.

WELCOME MS. VICKI VOS TO OUR CONSERVATORY! A FAVORITE WITH THE YOUNGER STUDENTS IN THE COMBO AND TAP CLASSES!!!

Ms. Vicki is bringing over 30 years of teaching and studio experience to our studio. At an early age, Vicki knew her passion would be behind the scenes so she began teaching at 16. She is trained in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Musical Theatre and has owned studios in Canada and has set up dance programs in schools and recreational centers. Her choreography credits include theater productions of Grease and Anything Goes, bridal shows, pageants, dance festival highlight shows and numerous dance year end production showcases. Vicki also adjudicates dance competitions throughout Canada and the USA. Some of her former students can be seen on TV, working on cruise ships, dancing with Disney and many are sharing her love of teaching!

This Saturday, September 10th we will meet those students interested in joining our performing groups.   Students will be placed together by ability level to insure their best experience as they perform throughout the LV community!

10:00 – Introductions

10:30 – Jazz Technique
11:00 – Celebrity Surprise Guest Teacher

A parents’ meeting will follow the celebrity jazz class.

Please wear dance practice clothes same as when taking combo or jazz class and bring all dance shoes that you are currently using. Under 8 yrs old please have hair secured off the face.  8 and over please secure in a bun.
No makeup is required.
Be ready to have fun with dance,
your friends and your teachers!!!

PERFORMING GROUPS 2016-17

    The Conservatory is a “performing” school which offers performing opportunities for community events as well as hospitals and retirement homes.  Included in our schedule are three dance competitions, a workshop, and an out-of-town performance or competition… plus a newly added National Finals in 2017 in Las Vegas.  Pending schedules, we plan to again perform at Disneyland this season.  We ARE NOT a “competition school” learning one dance to compete repeatedly for the entire year but will offer a variety of choreographed pieces for our student performers.

Admission to our performing groups is by audition or invitation. All performers are required to take a ballet technique class, turns and leaps class, choreography class and the performing group meeting ½ hour class.  

Additionally, if you choose a jazz group a jazz technique class will be required.

Additionally, if you choose a contemporary group a contemporary technique class will be required.

Additionally, if you choose a tap group a tap technique class will be required.

Students will not be required to take more classes than their life style and activities will allow for their own personal comfort zone. Although “commitment” is required we respect the personal limitations of the individual and their families.

If you choose to participate in our performing groups we believe the experience will provide a bonding one for lasting friendships and teamwork which will show in your performance and your giving attitude to the community.   Our tradition continues…. And it is a happy one….

DELEE TORTI-  Tony Nominated for her role in Smokey Joe’s Café, DeLee Torti has credits including "A Chorus Line" on Broadway and “Dreamgirls”. She has been on the Dance Panel for "YoungArts" in Miami, Florida and is a recurring "Musical Theater Panelist" for "The Spotlight Awards," in Los Angeles.

ROBERT TORTI-  Tony Nominated Actor for his role of Greaseball in Starlight Express. Other Broadway credits include, Joseph and the Amazing… (Pharaoh), Smokey Joe’s Cafe, and Reefer Madness. Multiple starring roles in Film include, That Thing You Do, She’s The Man, The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain, Reefer Madness and Joseph and The Amazing…. as the Pharaoh opposite Donny Osmond. Multiple T.V. series regulars and Guest Stars include, The Drew Carey Show, Vinnie and Bobby, Generations, The Young and The Restless, Days of our Lives and many more. He is currently starring in Rock of Ages Vegas.

Gregory has performed professionally touring in book shows and reviews.  He made his Las Vegas debut in Starlight Express as the Flying Marshal.  Gregory directed The Will Rogers Follies, Grease and George M for Jean Ann Ryan Productions. He choreographed the 1996 gymnastics tour of Olympic World Champions. Concert Fantasy 2010 featured Gregory's choreography of River dance in the Celtic Productions. He is currently a casting agent and manager for Best Agency.
